I comment about the report being given to me by records personnel because I was told that I am not supposed to have a report for an open case. This would suggest some error, or possibly a suspicious motive on the part of records clerks. This is not the first time I have been given copies of reports. This particular clerk later told me that I could not have the same report (08-231-146). Without being told by me, and me not making a report about it, this would suggest to me, the person somehow knew that I was not in possesion of the copy given, which was in the backpack.

Secondly, there are concerns below that were not addressed, that had nothing to do with the IA investigation.

[ I got a copy of my first statement from records today. This is the same statement I made to Off. Aksionczyk ( 08-231146). I am told this first case was closed.

On the Incident Report for the second (08-238448) done with Off, Porter, I remember seeing - case status: closed and disposition: pending further developments. Do both these refer to the case? I am also told a case would be closed after a year's time. If so, I don't see how it can be closed and pending further developments. I am told by records that my second statement is not attached to this report, that is open. Should I request that someone use the old statement to attach to the open case, so the officer has more to work with? ]

That is exactly part of my misunderstanding, Ms Mizuo. Who is the investigator? I have spoken to Officer Lau, who said she was from Internal affairs. I have spoken to you, who most evidently are from Internal affairs. Then there is Mr. Tamashiro, who I spoke with when I followed your instructions to call BT and ask for a detective. There is still a question in my mind, as to, who Mr. Tamashiro is. Is he both a detective at BT, and a Internal Affairs officer, or are there three? I would also like an email address for Off. Maeda, who is supposedly handling the open case.

Secondly, there are concerns below that were not addressed, that had nothing to do with the IA investigation.

I would like a response to the emails I sent please. Also, Off. Tamashiro says I am not supposed to have copies of reports. I say again that I was given copies by records clerks. I would also like a response to the complaint regarding the report made to Off. Martinez at the Hawaii State Public Library.

Below is an email sent by Officer Tamashiro. This is the person I spoke with when I followed your instructions to contact a detective. I was in the records department today and saw a Mike Tamashiro, Assistant Chief. I was under the impression he is a detective. Are there two M. Tamashiros? Secondly, I got a copy of my first statement from records today. This is the same statement I made to Off. Aksionczyk ( 08-231146). I am told this first case was closed.

On the Incident Report for the second (08-238448) done with Off, Porter, I remember seeing - case status: closed and disposition:

pending further developments. Do both these refer to the case? If so, I don't see how it can be closed and pending further developments. I am told by records that my second statement is not attached to this report, that is open. Should I request that someone use the old statement to attach to the open case, so the officer has more to work with?

And Officer Tamashiro says, on my statement is that I didn't want to prosecute. I don't see it there.

Mr. Vernon Balmer:

I am responding to your e-mail concerning a theft case you made in 2008. There were two cases made for you by two separate HPD officers. The first case under report #08-231146, was made for you on June 21, 2008, and you wrote in your statement you did not want to prosecute at this time.

A second theft report was made for you by HPD officer on June 27, 2008, which was exactly the same as your first report. This case under report #08-238448, is still open and pending further development.

I hope this has given you the information you want. If you have further questions, you have to contact the Honolulu Police Department’s Burglary and Theft Zone detectives for District 1.

Sincerely,
Detective Michael TAMASHIRO, Internal Affairs

Below is an email sent to M. Tamashiro, as you can see. I have had no response from him. So, I am contacting others I emailed, hoping that this will get to someone that can rectify the situation.

Today, I tried to add information and correct the statement given for report#08-231146. I was told by Off. Machado, that not only was this case closed, but also #08-238448, having elapsed a year's time. Someone is mistaken. Off. M. Tashiro tells me it is open.
